See detailsBed bugs live in the bed and in whatever is within a couple of metres of it — mattress seams, the frame joints, the headboard, the storage box, the bedside unit and the skirting behind. They are not a hygiene problem and a clean house is no protection. They travel in on luggage, used furniture and bedding.
The mattress is lifted and the frame, joints, slats, storage box, headboard and surrounding furniture are treated directly, working into the seams and joints where the insects and eggs actually sit. Our photographs show exactly this — the mattress up against the wall and the frame being worked on underneath. Skirting and adjacent furniture are included where the population has spread.
Eggs are well protected and often survive the first application. They hatch over the following one to two weeks. This is why a single visit frequently appears to work and then fails. We plan a follow-up visit for most bed bug jobs, and you should treat anyone offering a guaranteed one-visit fix with caution. Ask us at quotation stage whether the follow-up is included in the price.
Treatment on its own will not hold if the bedding is not dealt with. Wash all bedding, sheets, pillow covers and affected clothing at the hottest temperature the fabric allows and dry them fully. Do not move the mattress or the affected furniture into another room — that is the most common way a bed bug problem spreads from one bedroom to the whole house.
On safety: the correct clearance and re-entry time depends on the specific product applied at your premises. Your technician will give you those instructions on the day, and you should follow them rather than any general rule you read online.

Tell us a little about the problem and we will come back with the method and the price.
Often not. Eggs commonly survive the first application and hatch over the following one to two weeks, so most bed bug jobs are planned with a follow-up. Anyone promising a guaranteed single-visit cure is overselling it.
Usually not. The mattress is treated along with the frame and surroundings. Replacement is only worth considering where the mattress is already badly damaged, and a new mattress on an untreated frame will simply get infested again.
We can, but in shared accommodation bed bugs move along corridors and through shared furniture, so single-room treatment often gives short-lived results. Tell us how many rooms report bites and we will advise what actually needs covering.
The room needs to be vacated during treatment and then ventilated. The technician will give you a specific re-entry time on the day based on the product used — it is normally a matter of hours, not days.
